Travel is an integral part of the culture of geniuses, artists, and innovators. We travel for buinsess, pleasure and curiuosity (which can be fed by both business and pleasure, really). Whether you check your bags or roll all the way to your seat, you know most of the luggage looks the same; undistinguished and short on functionality. Jansport’s Modus line of bags addresses both issues beautifully.

We’ve added the 3 bags that are most applicable to business travel, covering you from the overnight to week-long journey. For the next month, we are offering introductory pricing ($75 - $89 ) that should make it easy to pick-up all three.
This just in from Slashdot about the Google Caste System, “in which business types are second-class citizens to Google’s valued code jockeys [..] They deem the corporate development team as underpowered in the company, with engineers and product managers tending to carry more clout than salesmen and dealmakers.”
Of course, an engineer that can sell would only thrive in such a caste system. It’s all about being hybrid.

We get asked this all the time. It’s almost the wrong question. There is no maximum per se, but I wouldn’t plan on trying to keep more than 15 cards in the Slimmy. At that point you might as well have a big old George Costanza wallet anyway because you loose the sleek nature of the Slimmy. You also wouldn’t want that much in your front pocket. American Express actually circulated a warning this summer saying that men carry too much in their wallets leaving them very exposed to theft and then identity theft.
I used to be an 18-card, 2-months-of-receipts, lots-of-extraneous-crap guy with a big butt brick. I would use the Slimmy when I was going out and just grab the essentials, but eventually I never went back. I still have the old wallet full of loyalty cards from burrito stands and what not, but I keep a pretty trim Slimmy that has everything I need everyday and is small enough that you can’t tell I have it unless you frisk me.
I keep 4 bank/credit cards, license, registration, health insurance card, car insurance card, 1 to 5 business cards, and as many as 10 bills and a days worth of receipts.
Slimmy reminds you to take stuff out of your wallet. It’s so appealingly sleek when it has only the necessities in it. Once you have a few extra receipts dangling out, you remember to file them away. It reinforces discipline.

Our friends at iLounge are fans of the BlackCoat-T. They adopted the long sleeve version as their official booth uniform. You can see iLounge founder Dennis Lloyd looks mighty good in his and if you look in this picture you can see the KOYONO logo on one of the shirts in question.

We were all saddened by Peter Drucker’s passing. His ideas on modern management most certainly transcended his time. It’s amazing how much work is left to be done with his ideas on spawning innovation and entrepreneurship. He was so GAI.
I love this (CNN 11/11/2005):
“Drucker was considered a management visionary for his recognition that dedicated employees are key to the success of any corporation, and marketing and innovation should come before worries about finances.”
It’s amazing how many leader of companies like MCI, Enron, Adelphia, Tyco etc. put finance as an instrument to feed greed instead of the company’s future. Focus on finance (a tool with limits) instead of creativity/innovation (a process without limits) and the “C” in creative turns to corruption.
I love this:
‘Disgusting spectacle’
“The last two years were just too disgusting a spectacle,” Drucker said. “Pigs gorging themselves at the trough are always a disgusting spectacle, and you know it won’t last long.”
Drucker termed Wall Street brokers “a totally non-productive crowd which is out for a lot of easy money.”
“When you reach the point where the traders make more money than investors, you know it’s not going to last.”
Can’t agree more.
Be GAI - read some Peter Drucker.

Q: I am looking at getting a Sling Pack . If it rains while i am out side with a computer in this pack.. will my computer get wet?
A: Incase lists the nylon shell as “Water Resistant.” It is a very tight weave but not intended to protect against a downpour. We like the Sling because it is has such a low profile. I wear it under my rain shell when I commute on my bike and it stays close enough to the body if I am walking about town with an umbrella. I know some messengers use an additional teflon spray coating over such things, but it looks pretty nasty after awhile.
